Girls on the Run is a terrific after-school program designed to reach elementary school grade girls 3rd-5th grade. The program is delivered by community volunteers, teachers and moms for ten weeks. GOTR meets right after school twice a week for about an hour each day. GOTR utilizes games and group activities to teach running and impart health concepts.
We have two main goals. Our first goal: at the end of our ten weeks, each girl will run a 5K race! Our second goal: to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living!
This program is offered on a lottery basis UNLESS you are a volunteer then you automatically have a place for your daughter. There are three different ways to volunteer:
- Coach - volunteer one day a week with the girls from 2:30-4pm
- Bridge Coach - volunteer two days a week with the girls from 2:30-4pm
- Site Liaison - volunteer by assisting with logistics and administrative items (this is great for a Mom or Dad that is unable to be at the school from 2:30-4pm
